Before you came
Into my life,
All I had known
Was pain and strife.
More than ready to give up
I said I'd had enough,
I built a wall around me
My heart grew cold and tough.
Some men tried to tear it down
With each attempt they'd fail,
They tried to make me fall for them
But it was all to no avail.
I knew what their intentions were
I saw right through the games,
They only had one thought in mind
Everyone's the same.
Nothing made sense to me
Everything was wrong,
My life had no meaning
Before you came along.
I'm not sure what it was
That drew me to your side,
My heart told me to go for it
While my head said run and hide.
I'm glad I took the chance
Or I may never have known,
All the joy that love can bring
Or see how much we've grown.
I've opened up my heart to you
And shared with you my dreams,
You gave me yours in return
And a shoulder on which to lean.
The way you make me feel
I can't begin to say,
When you're next to me at night
Or when I think of you all day.
All the little things you do
Like grab my hand or hold me tight,
The way you kiss my lips
Tells me everything's alright.
I can see how much you love me
And I know you truly care.
There's nothing else on this earth
That to you can compare.
It hasn't been that long
But I know without a doubt,
You're the one I truly love
That I could never live without.
**I wrote this for my boyfriend Chris who amazes me each and every day. He has given me more than I could have ever imagined...he gave me his heart.
