The beach was so empty that day
The sea rolled in so calm
And I lay looking out to sea
Resting on one arm
The world all seemed so at peace
Everything seemed steady and even
My memories hid far away
Where nobody could see them
And as I sat I felt relaxed
The pain was far away
And I could have sat there for eternity
And wished my life away
But suddenly a thought occurred to me
I didn’t want to be alone
And all the beauty I could see
Was not just mine to own
I know we had an awful fight
Said things we didn’t mean
Although we’d try to hurt each other
Our love was just as keen
I called your phone, you answered
And hung on every word
We both wanted each other
The situation was so absurd
You came and we sat a while
And talked our problems through
We realised no matter what
You love me and I love you
