I thought it was over between you and me,
I thought love was gone and that we would just be,
When we said goodbye,
I assumed it was the end,
Of this not so secret love that we learned to spare,
Spare of the critics,
And the misunderstanding,
Spare of the questions,
And the unwanted answers,
I looked forward to "reuniting" with you,
I knew seeing you again wouldn't be easy,
I knew there'd be feelings reawaken at touch,
I knew the sight of you would be wonderful, yet I couldn't say why and I couldn't explain any different,
I swore I'd love you no more,
You'd changed,
You are now so different,
But you look at me the same,
Yet you mostly look away,
Why? I can't help to wonder,
I understand we both grew,
We grew up and we grew apart,
I confronted you for being a jerk,
You had nothing to say,
You looked at me,
As I disappointedly walked away,
I felt hurt,
I felt hollow,
I began to think you didn't care,
I began to see you as a wild hare,
Not ready to be settled,
Not yet ready to be tamed,
But you broke down easily,
You shed the unreal tough image,
And held me so gently,
I tried to push you away,
But I grew weak,
How could I push you away from me?
When you seemed so helpless,
And you as well grew weak?
How could I push you away?
When all I really wanted was you?
I don't know what I'm saying,
I don't know what it means,
I don't know what I'm feeling,
Confusion is my doom,
How could I love someone?
I thought had left for good
