While I was growing up
Never have I been selfish
Always willing to share my toys
With all the girls and the boys
Never have I just kept something to myself
It was always taken from me
I always cleaned up after myself
And was the last to take something off the shelf
When someone wanted something
I gave to them first
And standing in line on thanksgiving for food
I let everyone go before me so they could choose
But now things have changed in my life
And my selfishness has grown
And not with family not with friends and not with my things
I’ve grown selfish with the love you give me
I’ve just grown selfish with you
I do not want to let go
Just trying to hold you all to myself
I’m wanted to support you with no ones help
I want to be the only one who holds you in their arms
The only one for you to protect you from harm
I want to be the only one whose lips you kiss
I’m just so selfish over you I’ve never been like this
Wanting to just keep you to myself and away from the entire world
Just so I can have every second with you that I can
Trying my best to stall you before you get off the phone to sleep
Because to me every second with you is like an eternity
So sorry for my selfishness
And the way I have changed in life
