Daylight shadows drift upon
forgotten sidewalks
of beautiful yesterdays
Deep cool winds
caress this lucid, fevered brow
under the mad, mad, moon
Daybreak
the starry-eyed jester is leaving
through the May window
chasing dew mist rainbows
and diamond dappled daydreams
in white cloud blue sky golden fields
leaving behind the September owl
alone in the stark haunted night
solemn eyes spawn mercury tears
and reflect in them
the mad, mad, moon
I think of you and
the jester's heart returns,
alive and laughing
under the mad, mad, moon.
