As she sits here gazing
She wonders where he is
Its more of a mind thing
She knows where he lives
She shouldnt feel this way
Its been too long
But somehow it wont be enough
She shouldve know it all along
She had seen all the signs
And felt it in her heart
But she was blinded by the light
And it was trouble from the start
All the things she did for him
All the time shed spent
All the broken promises
All the places they never went
She glances at the radio
Her expression turns to scorn
This was their song
But now, it was just forlorn
She slams the power off
The memories are too much to take
But they keep flooding back
And her dam threatens to break
As she sobs into her pillow
She just cant help but to think
Of all the time they couldve been
And the flood is teetering on the brink
She tries to think of something else
But her thoughts turn back to him
All the things she sacrificed
But just what couldve been
She pretends it doesnt hurt
That she really doesnt care
But deep down inside it kills her
Her heart feels empty with despair
She occupies her days
But shes scared of the nights
Emotions run so freely then
Shes afraid to turn off the lights
Maybe shes holding onto a feeling
Holding onto a dream
But its almost like a nightmare
Its ghosts and demons unseen
She puts on her headphones
And lets the music wash over her soul
But somehow, nothing helps
She just doesnt feel whole
She tries to get some sleep
Because theres no way to rest
She tosses and turns all night
Even though she tries her best
When she finally drifts off
Shes afraid to dream
But her conscience wont help
Its just there to be mean
But when she awakens
The very next morn
All the hate is replaced
As with the scorn
She knows she was hurt
But she still is strong
She knows it wasnt her
But he, who was wrong
She opens her eyes
And lifts her face to the sun
She can finally move on
Whats done is done
She knows that he missed out
That one day hell realize
But for now, shes happy
No more tears from her eyes
She begins to live her life
Each day filled with joy
Nothing could let her down
Especially by some boy
