It was a cold winter night
Late in December
I sat all alone
With your words to remember
Before you left
You said to me, "Be strong
Have faith in our love
And know we belong
Together forever
Intertwined will we be
And may hope guide you
Right back to me"
I feared for your life
And told you to stay
But I knew deep down
You must go away
Your words stuck with me
Through thick and thin
Especially when all I wanted
Was to just give in
But you filled me with hope
That cold winter night
A hope that once said
Someday we might
Forget this world
And be together again
But oh too soon
Did our love must end
You promised forever
And delivered me death
You said love was strong
But you wasted your breath
You went away
And broke me in two
Something like that
You just can't undo
So now here I am
With an empty space
That no man or creature
Could ever replace

So perfect and true
That was our love
